Painted in the years following the financial crisis and resulting property crash, the painting depicts an urban landscape devoid of human characters, now populated by half completed buildings and decorated with weathered estate agent signs; and yet, even as the sun sets on this scene the enduring beauty of the world is accentuated by the rays of light that fall on the textured details in the landscape, creating a harmony in the image that is intended to contrast and work against everything that the scene represents.

The painting is of an intimate scale (24cm x 30cm) and comprises of oil on canvas stretched over a mahogany panel

Designed to hang unframed, it has done so in the Artist's house in the years since it's creation in 2012, having been exhibited once - in 2016 at the Séamus Ennis Art Centre in Naul, Co Dublin, Ireland
